Make Things Go Boom - A Guide To Explosives[]
Grenade Launchers are powerful explosive weapons that could deal a very high total of DPS against a cluster of enemies, but very little DPS to singular individuals.
Grenade Launchers have 2 fire modes that can be switched at will by pressing Q:
- Direct Fire: Fires hitscan grenade that explodes near instantly when impacting a zombie, or bounces off a wall once and explodes shortly after. If impacting a zombie, the grenade will explode slightly behind to damage the original target plus the horde behind them. Deals significant directional knockback.
- Indirect Fire: The original mode, now available as an alt fire. Launches grenades that explodes at your cursor's position, ignoring walls or other obstacles in the way. Does not inflict knockback and can only slightly stagger zombies.
Grenade explosion damage works as followings:
- From 1 to 5 targets: Explosion deals the grenade's base damage to all targets, reaching a maximum total damage of 5 * baseDmg for 5 targets.
- For 6+ targets: Explosion still deals a total of 5 * baseDmg, but distributed evenly across all targets.
Grenade Launchers by default ignore all PvE armor, meaning they will bypass any protection employed by zombies to directly damage them. Grenade Launchers are also capable of stunning all non-boss zombies, preventing them from moving or attacking for a short while.
Requirements[]
10 Explosive points are required to use the M79, the first grenade launcher. While the first few launchers require a high Reload stat to counteract their small magazine size, grenades overall are not stat hungry weapons - they only require an investment in Accuracy and Reload, as opposed to other weapons which will require a combination of Strength, Accuracy, Critical and Reload.
Advantages and Disadvantages[]
Advantages
- Highest grinding DPS of all weapon types.
- High accuracy.
- Ammo is cheap and space efficient, a stack of grenades usually last longer than a stack of pistol or rifle ammo when used by a machine gun.
- Good crowd control capability with high knockback + stun capability.
- Indirect fire allows for cheesing zombies through walls, providing greater flexibility compared to firearm.
Disadvantages
- Rarely capable of fully utilizing the high grinding DPS for EXP gain, due to inconsistent damage distribution leading to frequent overkilling.
- Low damage against bosses, not helped by their immunity against stun.
Usage Tips[]
- Know your fire modes: Direct fire is best for fighitng in open space for better EXP gain, and indirect fire is best for eliminating zombies across walls and obstructions.
- Indoors, indirect fire can be used to clear a room of zombies before entering, or kill randomly spawned horde if your gear setup is not suited to fighting them directly. For the latter, it is best to camp behind a wall close to a building entrance/wall to keep zombie spawning predictable.
- With direct fire, move in medium sized circles to corral the zombies into a ball formation, maximizing the amount of target hits with each explosion. Keep your distance from them as Grenade Launchers are accurate weapons.
- Grenade Launchers are mostly ineffective against bosses, so combo them with high accuracy, ranged weapons that can handle them well. These are: Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, Sub-Machine Guns, Assault Rifles.
Indirect Fire Combat (Legacy)[]
These tactics have been made obsolete with the introduction of direct fire as the main method for fighting zombies in open area:

An excruciatingly powerful grenade launcher, crafted from the remains of the infected. Its barrel, as best as demolition experts can tell, is crafted from the spine of a mutated survivor, the stock made from the shoulder, and the curled hand still gripping the dead heart. Grenades shot from this launcher are unlike any other in that, upon landing, they explode into fragments of bone and blood, rather than flame and shrapnel. These gory fragments easily dig into the flesh of any person nearby, whether survivors or infected. Some say that each explosion frees a lost soul from its eternal torment as an infected. The Cryo Launcher fires grenades that contain a modified version of the serum used in the Crossbow, which create shockwaves that vaporized most of the serum into an aerosol with any remaining serum coating the high velocity shrapnel of the explosive shell. An unexpected but welcome side-effect of this delivery method caused by the serum's conveniently high enthalpy of vaporization was a chilling effect that, combined with the action of the serum itself, caused the infected to move significantly slower upon being hit by these explosive shells. Sadly, this appears to still have little effect against human target. Release: December 18th, 2020 - January 3th, 2021

Real Name: Mk 19 Grenade Launcher The Mk 19 is an American belt-fed automatic grenade launcher first developed during the Vietnam War. It fires 40mm heavy grenades at a cyclic rate of 325-375 rounds per minute. Designed to fire from a tripod or a vehicle mount (with the latter being preferable), the Mk19 is capable of penetrating the armors of most APCs/IFVs with a direct hit, and is also greatly effective against enemy infantry formations. The "Scorcher" variant is an evolution of the Mk19, made possible by the machinery discovered in SEZ and the ingenuity of Fairview residents. Key improvements include the reconfiguration of the trigger group to allow comfortable handling with a minigun-style chainsaw grip, the use of post-outbreak alloys that helped to lighten the weapon to a "man portable" 25.8kg, and, most importantly, the introduction of N-9/2025 munitions to improve the weapon's effectiveness against infected crowds. In the never-ending race of creating new weaponry to deal with the volatile N-4 virus pandemic, AdminPwn's select team of gunsmiths and demolition experts are always working on developing new technologies that can help this cause and In recent times this has paid off. After discovering new cutting-edge technology developed by rebel factions across Fairview, the mythical X-Dusk weaponry has been upgraded to supreme levels. Such is the case of the Dawn Launcher that thanks to the conversion with the experimental parts developed in Secronom Bunker it was possible to achieve a greater firepower and explosion range that this beast can create, adding to this that the grenades loaded in the barrel are capable of to disperse the N-9/2025 neurotoxin, thus giving an even greater advantage against the N-4 virus mutations. As expected, the conversion to this model is not accessible to the general public, so AdminPwn asks that it only be granted to those who prove themselves worthy of carrying this monstrous grenade launcher as well as having the capital to pay for the resources and necessary manpower.
